Sammy the Mouse, complete (to date)
In Sammy the Mouse, the stories of Sammy, Puppy, Feekes, Fish, and the rest of them, intertwine in incredible and mysterious ways. This comic feels like a lost Beat novel or an epic poem. Sammy just wants to be, but everyone wants something from him. His best friend is working on a secret project, Feekes the Duck is constantly trolling around for alcohol, there’s a mystery bullet still in the air and a furry beast whose intentions aren’t fully clear. It’s film noir, it’s psychotic, it’s allegorical, it’s incredibly and chaotically drawn, but every damn line serves a purpose.
We have 20 sets of the ‘Complete (to date)’ Sammy the Mouse for the incredibly low price of $23 — that’s like 10 cents a page.
Book I was published by Sally’s La Mano 21 press back in 2011. It collected the first three issues, originally published by Fantagraphics/Coconino. Every single copy was printed by Zak on his AB Dick 2-color offset printer. 104 pages.
Book II was published by Uncivilized in 2013. It’s also 104 pages.
Book III was co-published by La Mano 21 & Kilgore mostly so Zak and I would have a reason to chat more regularly. In truth, it’s an honor to get to work with one of our all-time favorite cartoonists on a project we have loved dearly for over a decade now.
